The Military in Mortgage program is dedicated to providing veterans and service member spouses the resources they need to open or grow an independent mortgage brokerage or the training necessary to enter into a career in the mortgage industry.

Veterans and military spouses need more support in finding employment opportunities where they can thrive after proudly serving our country.

Military in Mortgage Small Business Grant
The Military in Mortgage small business grant is designed to bring more veteran business owners into the independent mortgage broker channel through funding, support and education. Our country’s service men and women are often well suited for a leadership role in the mortgage industry due to their unique training. These skills are beneficial and easily transferable for the mortgage industry as they are able to implement and follow the systems and processes that create a streamlined mortgage experience for homebuyers.
The Spark small business grant will offer funding for expenses like marketing, technology, licensing, office expenses and more to offset the costs of opening a brokerage or growing their businesses. The grant also provides additional support from the Association of Independent Mortgage Experts (AIME) and the broker community to help the grant recipients build sustainable business models for any market environment.
Recipients of the Spark small business grant will be assigned a mentor from AIME’s broker community to have a seasoned colleague in the field to seek advice from. Grant recipients will receive one year of AIME membership and access to the AIME Leadership Academy, which will cover a wide range of business practices including quarterly compliance processes, information for hiring and onboarding staff members, and scalable solutions for growing a brokerage.
Military in Mortgage Training Program
Military in Mortgage career training will bring qualified job candidates who possess transferable skills into the independent broker channel. Qualified applicants will receive extensive training in one of the mortgage industry’s most high demand roles including mortgage underwriter, mortgage loan processor, mortgage loan originator and mortgage loan originator assistants.
Many of these positions use transferable skills from non-industry jobs which allow for an easy transition once trained on the mortgage process. Mortgage positions are also adaptable for military families that move frequently which allows for spouses of service members to build a career that they can take with them anywhere in the country. Additionally, once the Military in Mortgage career training is completed, candidates will also be supported with job placement opportunities.
