Military In Mortgage

The Military in Mortgage grant program is dedicated to providing veterans and service member spouses the training necessary to enter into a career in the mortgage industry and the resources they need to open an independent mortgage brokerage in the wholesale channel.

Did You Know?

In 2018, the Center for Innovation and Research in Veterans and Military Families reported that 53% of veterans face challenges with unemployment after their service ends. Veterans and military spouses need more support in finding employment opportunities where they can thrive after proudly serving our country.

That’s why we created the Military in Mortgage small business grant.

Military in Mortgage Small Business Grant Program

The Military in Mortgage small business grant program is designed to bring more veteran business owners from the retail mortgage channel into the independent mortgage broker channel through funding, support and education. Our country’s service men and women are often well suited for a leadership role in the mortgage industry due to their unique training. These skills are beneficial and easily transferable for the mortgage industry as they are able to implement and follow the systems and processes that create a streamlined mortgage experience for homebuyers.

The Spark small business grant program will offer funding support for expenses like marketing, technology, licensing, office expenses and more to offset the costs of opening a brokerage or growing their businesses. The grant also provides additional support from the Association of Independent Mortgage Experts (AIME) and the broker community to help the grant recipients build sustainable business models for any market environment.

Recipients of the Spark small business grant program will be assigned a mentor from AIME’s broker community to have a seasoned colleague in the field to seek advice from. Grant recipients will receive one year of AIME membership and access to the AIME Leadership Academy, which will cover a wide range of business practices including quarterly compliance processes, information for hiring and onboarding staff members, and scalable solutions for growing a brokerage.
